The Weekend Wrap

How’s your Blood Pressure Doing?

If you ventured to War Memorial Park on Saturday I’d say it’s through the Roof but more on that later.

First up – did you know it’s National volunteer week?

Not that we need a week set aside to say Thank you to our Volunteers, as you’re appreciated all year round! As we’ve mentioned many times, we don’t play with out you.
So in National Volunteer Week – he’s another big shout-out to you all.

We’d love to be able to post some photos next week, so if you can take a few snaps and send them to Dee (0419568319)

We’re also delighted to announce our Under 16/17 football development program starting this Wednesday under the guidance of our very own Strength and conditioning guru Paul Bacash.

Paul will take the teams on a 10 week journey that includes tips on preparation, recovery, nutrition, speed and agility, running basics and injury prevention just to name a few.

This is a great opportunity for both teams and just another way the club is supporting and developing our Juniors.

To the action and we have to Start at Greensborough where nothing could separate the two teams at the final Siren. It was truly heart racing stuff as both teams desperately tried to edge in front but as the siren sounded it was all squared up.

There’s something about a draw leaves you feeling unsatisfied. A bit flat. Like getting nosed out in the last leg of the Quaddie. The positive is we were looking for a response after last week’s disappointing effort and we got it against one of the benchmarks.

The reserves also turned on a heart stopper in a low scoring affair we doubled our score (+1) in the final stanza. A late late goal taking the margin out to 9 points, a 23 point turnaround showed the teams fighting qualities.

In the 19s, team Stoiks continued the theme of heart stoppers, less than a kick separated both teams at each break. Unfortunately at the final bell Eltham were one point in front.
Team Bubba were at Banyle and put in a very competitive performance against the more fancied opponents, the 28 point margin not doing justice to the commitment and effort from the boys.

We shall stick with the seniors and what a day for our Womens program on Sunday.
The development side headed up the highway to play Wallan. Last time it was a One point thriller, this around we had a bit more to spare with a comfortable 11 point (is that comfortable?) Victory. A great result.

Back at J.E.Moore Park and it was a first for our Roosters as we toppled Darebin for the first time.
If you wanted evidence for how far our team has come then this was all the proof you needed.
A high quality, exhilarating contest between two even teams that will be there at the pointy end. When the dust settled, we were 13 points to the Good.

To Sunday and our Juniors. As always our two under 9 teams and the under 10s went out with one thought in there minds and that was to have fun and showcase their talents which they all did in there respective contests

In the games where we keep score our under 11s headed on the road to Eltham. The team tried hard all day eventually going down by 31 points

On the home deck and Yarrambat proved too strong for the under 12 home, recording a 31 point win
The 13s hosted the impressive Diamond Creek. We gave it our all but in the end the Creekers finished 44 points to the good

The 16s battled hard all day out at South Morang eventually going down by 60.

Back at Home the 17s had a day out, recording a Massive win of 161 points against Wallan Full credit to the Wallan lads who kept trying to the end in difficult circumstances.

And that leaves us with the Netballers who had a big win over Bundoora 7 on friday night. 37-17 the final score.

That’s all for the playing side of things. Off field and the rooms were rocking Saturday night for the bad Shirt, iPod shuffle night, A Great night was had by all and best some of those Shirts never see the light of day ever again!

No Names but you know who you are!!

As always Support those that support us, our Wonderful Sponsors. You know the Drill jump on the website and look up the business directory.

And that’s it for now, have a great week.

Keep your eye on the red white and blue
